Tennis Court Lighting
FSG has upgraded the lighting in Tennis Courts all over the U.S.
And at the 26-court facility (below), see the case study video where the tennis court nighttime activity increased by over 30%.
KINGWOOD COUNTRY CLUB
Old Tennis Court Lighting Problems
Meredith Walton took a few moments with us to discuss the lighting challenges at Kingwood Country Club. She said the old lights had a loud buzzing sound, as well as a high glare. She also explained that when bulbs burned out, it was a difficult process to get the new bulbs ordered and installed. Walton also said there were dark spots on the courts as well as a yellowed hue from the old lights, which caused issues for nighttime play.
30% Increase in Tennis Events After Lighting Upgrade
Walton explained that the new LED lights are much more energy efficient, have stronger ballasts, and talked about how well the lights have been received by the community. “As we get into late spring and summer, playing at night is a necessity,” explains Walton. “If you want to survive as a tennis facility, you need to have well-lit courts.” On average after dark scheduling and events has increased 30% since the lighting retrofit.
Safer, Welcoming and Warmer Facility
Walton said the entire facility feels more safe, welcoming, and warmer. She says they no longer have any complaints about the lighting, whereas before they had tons of complaints. Members didn’t play at night before because of the glare. It has now expanded the ability to allow people play all hours of the day. Many of the older members have problems seeing at night, so the new lights have brought more of them out to play.
