FSG Updates Lighting in the American Airlines Center for Less Maintenance and Better Aesthetics
The American Airlines Center (AAC) in Dallas, Texas is a vibrant, flashy building that hosts professional basketball, hockey, and concerts every week. Most of the fans and concert-goers attending these events park in one of the AAC’s parking garages. While the outside and inside of the arena pops with vibrant lights, the AAC realized there was a need to replace aging, poor lighting in their parking garages. The existing 150W high-pressure sodium and 175W metal halide fixtures in the garages were becoming unreliable and degraded.
The master electrician for the facility sought a solution that would look better and lighten his team’s maintenance responsibilities. Facility Solutions Group installed 782 new LED fixtures. These fixtures provide much more uniform light—of significantly higher quality—than the older lighting technology they replaced. Additionally, through the energy savings, the AAC anticipates a project payback time of just over two years.
