FSG performed turnkey lighting upgrades in over 8,000 Starbucks retail stores.
Starbucks has always been a leader in sustainable retail operations. Starbucks was one of the first retailers to adopt LED lighting in it’s stores back in the early 2000’s. However, as with most technology, LED had advanced quite a bit in a short amount of time and the older LED lamps were becoming less effective. Therefore it became necessary to replace these older LED lamps with newer more efficient and more effective LED lamps. This was no small task though. With more than 8000 stores in need of the upgrade, Starbucks needed a partner they could trust with the project.
FSG worked with Starbucks to identify the best products to use for this relamp. Once chosen, FSG utilized it’s national presence and relationships to build a complete turnkey relamp project that spanned the continent. The project was completed in 8 months.
Due to the size and scope of this project, waste was a concern for both Starbucks and FSG. FSG worked to develop a first-of-it’s kind enterprise lamp recycling and repurposing program for the discarded lamps. Lamps that still had usable life left in them (older LED) were donated to charity to be repurposed. Lamps that were no longer usable were carefully packaged and sent to a EPA certified lamp disposal center where they were properly disposed of.
